Mobile and embedded systems can now enjoy greater hardware capacity even than our PCs 10 years ago. They present great opportunities to make our lives better. ELEC528 is about such opportunities. It will cover topics from a broad range of disciplines beyond traditional ECE and CS. After introducing the basics of mobile & embedded systems, ELEC528 seeks to encourage students from different disciplines to apply their own expertise to optimize mobile & embedded system and investigate future applications.
ELEC528 consists of four interleaving parts. In the first part, Dr. Zhong surveys the hardware, operating system, user interface, and applications of mobile & embedded systems. In the second part, Dr. Tran introduces digital multimedia design & applications of these systems. In the third part, students present research topics based on discussion with the instructors. In the fourth part, students interact with the instructors to identify a research problem and make an initial attempt to solve it as the final project.

2 Project: Select a suggested topic or propose your own. Ideally related to your research and course presentation. 30-minute proposal presentation and 30-minute final presentation. Project report required.
