Welcome
to the
webpage that summarizes the activities and events surrounding the
celebration of the 60th birthday of Nicholas Peppas. As the organizing
committee, we have tried to create a one-day program that brings
together former and current students, post-docs and associates of
Nicholas with an opportunity for all to celebrate this occasion with
him through both a technical symposium as well as social events that
culminate in a dinner and roast of Nicholas.
For
the technical
symposium, we have brought together former and current undergraduate
and graduate students as well as post-docs of Nicholas that span the
range of academic activities, locations and time periods in which
Nicholas has been involved. Our speakers come from various time periods
with Nicholas, worked in varying research areas, and have gone on to
very distinctive and distinguished careers both in industry and
academia. Each speaker will share briefly on their experiences as a
Peppamer, discussing what it was like to work for Nicholas at that time
and how their interactions with Nicholas have been throughout the
years. Further, each person will present a short technical synopsis of
what their career has entailed and what their technical activities have
involved. In this manner, we hope to demonstrate the breadth and depth
of Nicholas’ impact on the people that have come through his
laboratory, the scientific and engineering research communities, and
society.
Finally,
the day
will conclude with a dinner followed by a further
“discussion” of Nicholas including input from any
attendee who wishes to share their experiences, insight, and comments
regarding Nicholas.
Thank
you all for
attending, or, if unable to attend, for sharing your best wishes with
Nicholas. We look forward to seeing all of you, refreshing old
relationships, and starting new ones.

Organizing
Committee,
