LRC Student Services
LRC Usage Log We request that all students using LRC facilities and services log their time using our new procedure. This allows us to collect accurate usage and frequency statistics in order to support funding requests. Use the following links to learn how and log your time. You can also view your own records here. Your instructor may also require you to log your time for grading purposes. Please ask your instructors about this. Accessing Audio/Video Files The LRC's digitized collection is accessible to only Rice students enrolled in language courses and foreign language faculty members. Ask assistants at the LRC front desk for the relevant user names and passwords. Our RealMedia files are accesible from both MacOS and Windows systems. You cannot view reserve films outside of the LRC due to copyright restrictions; however they can be viewed within the LRC or Mudd Lab. If you wish to view Fokus Deutsch, Destinos, or other similar videos from off campus, you will need a high speed connection (i.e. DSL, Cable Modem). There is just too much data to be sent to effectively view these videos using a dial-up connection. View Facility Reservations One of the LRC computer classrooms is often reserved for classes and presentations. In order to ensure that the LRC will not be in use when you would like to do your homework, click the following link to view reservations. View Current Classroom Reservations Class Information The following links provide information about the several language courses at Rice as well as the language tables at the colleges. German Interviews Students desiring to use audio stations to record their German interviews must first make a reservation. Linguistics Assignments The computer with linguistics applications is located in Room 113. It is iin the second row at the far end closest to the windows. Puchasing LRC Software for your own The software available in the LRC may be available for individual purchase.
