Wimba
Instructions for the Recording Section In Web Projects

In order to use Wimba, you will need to use a PC, Internet Explorer, and a microphone.  It might be easiest to use the computers in the LRC as they are already set up for this, and if you have problems or questions someone will be there to assist you.  You can, however, do these exercises from your PC at home.

Please follow these steps:

• Go to http://babel.rice.edu/extemplate
• Once you are on the Extemplate page click on “Student Login” at the upper right corner.  You´ll be asked to authenticate the connection. Click on “yes.”
• Type  your RICE ID #, first and last name and press “login.”  Make sure not to misspell anything.
• Select your language, then your section, and finally the name of your instructor.
• Choose the name of the exercise you will need to complete  and press “fetch exercise.”
• After opening the exercise you will be asked if you would like to install Wimba. Say “yes”. It is also posible that you might be asked instead whether or not you want to “grant this session”, say “yes”. NOTE IF YOU CHOOSE “NO”, THE PROGRAM WILL NOT WORK AND YOU WILL NEED TO QUIT INTERNET EXPLORER AND RESTART.
• Now you are ready to record.  Some exercises have oral instructions. Make sure you play these (upper right corner) and get full directions before starting to record.
• In the Wimba window, press the round icon to record.  You may rerecord as many times as you  like. When you are happy with your work click on “Valid”  and then on “submit” to turn in your work for grading.  Make sure you click both - if you only click "valid" or only "submit", your work will not be sent to your instructor.
