Using Kompozer and F-Secure SSH FTP

  1. Using Kompozer which you can download to your own computer, Create an index file for your public directory.

    Instructions to use Kompozer

  2. Open Kompozer, type “your name, e-mail address, Course name and number ” and save as index.html in tempwrk$ on 'Guttural'. (Be careful, if you already have an index.html file on your Owlnet account, give a different name to this file)
  3. Create a second document called “course name and number (no space)”, type titles following the model, insert Rice logo, save. This new file is called “course000.html”.  **Do not use spaces or diacritical marks for file names
  4. Create a “hyperlink” on your index.html file. Highlight “course number ” and link to course000.html file.
  5. Open "SSH Secure Shell", select "Secure File Transfer Client".
  6. Click on "File", then select "connect"
    For hostname use: Jungle.owlnet.rice.edu
    Fill in appropriate information for your account: (NetID).
  7. If you do not have a "public_html" folder, create one.
  8. Double click on "public_html" folder, click on "operation" on tool bar, select "upload" , then select file to be uploaded from your local drive, then click "upload".
  9. * WARNING: make sure you upload ALL files and folders.
  10. To view webpage: http://www.owlnet.rice.edu/~your username
  11. Download SSH
