"School Vouchers"

One of the major debates in today's political arena is the controversial proposition to give federal funds in the form of school vouchers to lower-income families so that they may attend schools other than the public school system. While some argue that it is a clear case of active progressivism, others argue that it is a step towards socialism or a breach of the separation of church and state (90% of private schools are Catholic -- CNN.com).

In addition, we will be discussing which day of the week should fellows meet for the Fall 2000 semester. If you cannot make it to the meeting feel free to e-mail the coordinators (Theo and David) at loveassc@rice.edu to suggest a day. Feel free to collect any thoughts and ideas and bring them to the meeting on Monday, April 20th. The location is at the Lovett Private Dining Room (PDR) until the completion of the Lovett House renovation, at lunch (12:00 PM). Lunch - a sandwich tray, chips, and drinks - will be provided. All Associates and Students of Lovett College are invited.
