Tips on Working with the WWW

Finding Things on the WWW

Making Web Pages

Quick tip - using Netscape, find a web page you like then use 'View' & 'Document Source' (from pull-down menu) to look at its HTML code. You can save this document as 'your_filename.html' to use as a template for your own web page document - just insert your own stuff and delete what you don't need. This file can be viewed from your computer with Netscape using 'File' & 'Open File' (from pull-down menu). You can store this document on your owlnet account using the 'Fetch' program (off Central Mac server), then view it from Netscape using the address:
http://www.owlnet.rice.edu/~your_user_code/filename.html
