Chinese Language Teaching Certificate at Rice University

In May 2007, Rice University received funding from the Freeman foundation for three years to establish a Chinese Language teaching certificate program in order to satisfy a significant need for a certified teachers in area schools. Accepted participants will need to complete two requirements:

• (1) Four courses, taught by Rice faculty, leading to a Certificate of Chinese Teaching with a focus on best practices in teaching Chinese Language and Culture.
• (2) Use a $3000 scholarship, provided to the first cohort, to complete an established certification program by completing the necessary coursework and tests for State certification in teaching Chinese.
