Karoline Mortensen

Welcome

I earned a Ph.D. in Health Services Organization and Policy from the University of Michigan in 2006. My research focuses on the differences in utilization of healthcare services among the uninsured, privately and publicly insured, the utilization patterns of the intermittently uninsured, healthcare issues faced by the homeless, and mental health policy analysis. My current research examines the effect of Hurricane Katrina evacuees on emergency departments in the Houston area, the physical and mental health status of evacuees remaining in Houston, and the effects of the Katrina Medicaid 1115 waivers on evacuee's healthcare utilization. My research has been published in the journals Health Affairs and Medical Care. I currently teach health policy and environmental politics and policy.
