The Recuyell of the Historyes of Troye

This is a page from the first book printed in England, The Recuyell of the Historyes of Troye, which was printed in 1474 by William Caxton. The advent of the printing press increased the pressure for standardized spellings, and many of our current spelling irregularities (such as "knight") are actually preservations of fifteenth-century pronunciation.
