Midterm scale

 The exams came out on the whole pretty good, I thought. Students appear to be getting the hang of analyzing the categories and functions of the syntactic constructions we have been studying.

The letter grades on this scale do not directly feed into the final grade, but represent my usual mode of assigning letter grades for coursework as a whole. The bottom three scores are in my judgement really D+ range, but I listed then as C-/D+ because if this were a final grade scale I might bump a score up to C- if I thought the final grade showed some improvement over the course. The minimum passing grade for the exam, if I gave a letter grade for passing, would be half the total points, 50%, or 45 in terms of the raw point score.
