Dear Friend,
Indian Students at Rice (ISAR) is delighted to welcome you to Rice. We are committed to providing you with a cordial and supportive environment to render a smooth cultural transition.
To better assist you with this, ISAR organizes the Extended Indian Family and Friends (EIFF) program. In this program, we pair you with an Indian family living in the Houston area that serves as your host for the rest of your stay at Rice and hopefully, beyond. This pairing up is based on a match of interests between you and the participating families. This program has been providing the participating students a feel of home during their stay at Rice.
As a participant of this program, the family does not commit to any financial support nor are they expected to take care of boarding and lodging of the students but most importantly they advice students on cultural and social issues and help them network in the community. As a part of the program, students get invited by their host families on festive occasions like Diwali, Holi, etc. and other social get-togethers.
The "Extended Indian Family and Friends" is a volunteer program based totally on mutual understanding and personal initiative. The families and the students are asked to fill out a questionnaire that helps the organizers know about their specific interests. ISAR encourage you to participate in the program and experience an everlasting bond.
A get-together of the enrolled students and families would be organized in early September, where the students get to meet their assigned host family. We hope to hear from you very soon and will be pleased to answer any of your queries.
If you would like to participate in the program this year, then we request you to visit the following webpage and fill out a questionnaire :
