Ethnic Enrollment

Ethnicity is self-reported. Rice’s undergraduate ethnic enrollment included international (non-permanent residents without
green cards) and multiracial students (those with 2 or more ethnic origins). The ethnic codes used were standard codes used in reporting to the Federal government and other agencies.

          Sources: Enrollment information was accessed from AIMS (see footnote). Data were also derived from the
          Office of the Registrar’s Report to the President Fall 1998 and information provided by the Office of
          Admission.
 

Student Demographics and Top Ten States Represented among Undergraduates

These data showed the undergraduate population by gender, state, and international country of origin as of October 1, 1998.

Footnote: The Administrative Information Management System (AIMS) is the student information system that runs on a Prime 5320 computer and is maintained by several enrollment services offices including the Office of Admissions, Office of the Registrar, and the Financial Aid Office.
