Thanks to its extraordinarily high endowment-to-student ratio (approximately $697,000 per student in fiscal year 1999), Rice University charges the lowest tuition of any highly selective private college or university in the United States.

For class of 2004, a cap of $2,475 has been set on student loans in financial aid packages, thus generating a total of no more than $9,900 in need-based students loans over four years at Rice.
