Investigation Abstract of the Honor Council
Case #1, Fall 2004
November 8, 2004
Members Present:
Chris Edwards (presiding), Travis Youngblood (investigator), John Horstman, Matt Mino, Robby Nelson (observing)
Ombuds:
Dennis Li
Letter of Accusation:
The Honor Council received a letter of self-accusation from a new student suspecting improper conduct in taking the Honor System Exam at the end of Orientation Week.
Evidence Submitted:
- Letter of Accusation
- Student A's Exam
Investigation:
After hearing the statement of the accused student, the Investigative Committee concluded by a 2 (+ 1 observing) - 1 that the nature of the aid that the student received was not inappropriate. The dissenting member felt that the determination of propriety was premature without a statement from the “instructor” who administered the exam; the majority felt that their knowledge of the Honor System Exam and its administration was sufficient to vitiate the need for such a statement.
Respectfully Submitted,
Chris Edwards
