Investigation Abstract of the Honor Council
Case #20, Spring 2004
April 29, 2004

Members Present:
Chris Edwards (presiding), John Pitcher (investigator), Roy Ha, Matt Mino, Andrew Koller (observing)

Ombuds:
Brandon Wagner

Letter of Accusation:
The Honor Council received a letter of accusation accusing four students (Students A, B, C, D) of multiple submission in two upper-level engineering classes.

Evidence Submitted:

Investigation:
After reading the accusation and the preliminary correspondence, Students A, B, C, and D further explained the circumstances surrounding the multiple submission, indicating that the work done in one of the courses turned out to be necessary for the completion of the work in the second course. The instructor for both courses was consulted and consented to the arrangement, and this was so indicated by both the e-mail correspondence and the statements made by the accused students.

Council members concluded that it was plain that, while there was valid cause for the accuser to file the accusation with the information available at the time, in light of all the evidence present, there was no basis for sustaining the alleged violation. Thus, the Council closed the matter at investigation.

Respectfully Submitted,

Chris Edwards
