Abstract of the Honor Council
Case #15, Spring 2004
March 30, 2004

Members Present:
Keith Henneke (presiding, 1st Investigation), Amy Askin (presiding, 2nd Investigation), Chris Edwards (investigator), Matthew Mino, Kathleen Milazzo, Emily Yeomans (observing)

Ombuds:
Brandon Wagner

Letter of Accusation:
The Honor Council received a letter of accusation from a student in an upper level management class. The letter stated that Student A had been seen submitting an assignment late to a class where assignments were due at the beginning of class and was suspected to have worked on the assignment during the class period. A second letter of accusation was received by the Council accusing Student A of the same act on another day.

Evidence Submitted:

First Investigation:
The Council members decided that they needed statements regarding the class policy from the professor and other students in the class in order to determine whether a hearing was necessary.

Additional Evidence:
Second Investigation:
The statements from both the other students in the class and the professor supported Student A’s explanation of the lax homework submission policy for the class. Although Council members had some concerns about whether the assignment had been worked on during the class, members felt that there was not enough evidence to corroborate the claim that work had been done to warrant a full hearing. Thus members voted unanimously not to recommend the case for hearing.

Respectfully Submitted,

Amy Askin
Honor Council Internal Vice Chair, Presiding
