NEWS11/15/05- World AIDS Day is coming up! Be sure to stop by the grand hall on December 1. E-mail jenlee@rice.edu if you are interested in helping to plan the event or have any questions. 8/30/03- This Friday, October 3, at 4pm there will be an information session for students interested in the Summer Service Trip and their parents. The session will take place in Anderson Biological Laboratories room 131 (across from the RMC). 6/29/03- The site is going to be undergoing some changes in its navigation structure. Please take a moment to look at two photo albums that have been added, from trips to Kenya and to Mexico. Also note that HMO can now accept donations online via NetworkForGood. 3/24/03- The application for Associate Director positions has been posted. Please submit the form on-line by midnight on Monday, March 31. 3/20/03- Since many volunteers are concerned about traveling during wartime, the registration deadline for the summer service trip has been extended indefinitely. Also, students interested in running for the four elected leadership positions of HMO can now register their candidacy on-line. If you intend to run for Executive Director, Assistant Director, Treasurer or Secretary, please complete the on-line form by midnight on Monday, March 24. 3/4/03- The registration form

trip, please complete this form by 2/10/03- Check out some photos from last summer's service trip here. 11/26/02- Applications for the RPMS/HMO Alternative Spring Break to Mexico are now available on-line. Please complete the common application and the RPMS/HMO supplement by January 20. A list of events for World AIDS Day has been posted. 9/27/02- The PowerPoint presentation given at our information session last Sunday has now been posted. This presentation replaces our previous info session presentation available on-line. 4/8/02- Rice University is again accepting donations on behalf of HMO. See the updated proposal in the donor info section for more information. 3/18/02- Channeling of donations through Rice University has been temporarily put on hold. Until further notice, donors will not receive receipts from the University. HMO can work, as needed, to give donors other proof of their contribution. 2/26/02- The deadline to register for the Summer Service Trip is this Friday, March 1. Please fill out the form here and submit your deposit to the HMO Treasurer. 2/13/02- HMO has produced a commercial that now airs on Rice Broadcast Television. You can also take a look at it here (requires Macromedia Flash plug-in). 2/1/02- Several versions of the HMO logo have been posted here. Volunteers can feel free to use these logos for any official HMO purpose. 1/22/02- A "Donor Info" section has been added which includes a form letter that can be used to accompany donation checks. The News has been moved from the main page to its own section of the site. 1/14/02- Humanitarian Medical Outreach is now officially registered with the Student Association of Rice University. 12/19/01- Winter break begins today. There will be no updates to the website until after January 12. If you need information that is not on this webpage, please feel free to e-mail hmokenya@rice.edu. 12/3/01- Congratulations to our new Associate Directors: Elizabeth DuPre, Katrina Guillory, Marie Ng, Mahek Shah and Ethan Varela. 11/27/01- The application for Associate Director positions has been posted. Please submit the form on-line by midnight on Friday, November 30. Voting for the four elected officers will begin via e-mail at 1:00am tomorrow morning. Click here for details, and don't forget to vote! 11/24/01- Volunteers have been requested to assist at an orphanage for children with AIDS in Eastern Uganda. Volunteers would primarily be involved in going to schools and villages teaching about HIV/AIDS. For more information on the Ugandan NGO, please visit their website. Between this volunteer opportunity and opportunities with the Kabula Clinic Project and ICODEI, any student who wants to travel this summer should be able to do so. You might want to begin looking for funding for your trip soon. Commitments will probably be necessary by mid-February. 11/23/01- Students interested in running for the four elected leadership positions of HMO can now register their candidacy on-line. If you intend to run for Executive Director, Assistant Director, Treasurer or Secretary, please complete the on-line form by midnight on Tuesday, November 27. 11/22/01- Reuben reports that construction must begin soon on extra accommodations for HMO volunteers, if everything is to be in place by this summer. Please start fundraising through people you know ASAP! We'll discuss beginning a more formal fundraising campaign at our next meeting, but if you know people who might be interested in our cause, please contact them. If they can contribute soon, that would be great, and maybe they would be willing to help raise more funds next term. Older news- The PowerPoint presentation given at our information session is now online. All the slides are saved as jpeg files on a single page. This page will take a while to download. An extensive information packet is now available online. The packet includes histories of Kenya and the Bungoma District, information about the clinic, and information important for people considering going to Kenya, including information about food, lodging, currency, weather, visas, and immunizations.
