nThese supplies were delivered mostly to Lumboka Memorial Hospital. Some were also given to a nearby women’s group that assists village women during childbirth.
Five large boxes of supplies were collected, which I brought with me when I went to Kenya. The supplies included a lot of disposables such as needles, syringes, gloves, blood collection tubes, urinalysis strips and bandages. There were also several blood pressure cuffs, scalpels and other surgical instruments, a centrifuge and a nebulizer. These were collected from organizations in both Houston and Southern California, and most of these items were given to Lumboka, but some were delivered to a nearby group of midwives who assist women who can’t make it to a hospital during childbirth.
