SERVING
ALCOHOL IN HAMMAN HALL
Presenter may not serve, or allow to be served, alcoholic beverages in connection with the Event. Exceptions to this rule are granted only on rare occasions, and Presenter must make a request for exception in advance and secure written permission from the Facilities Administrator before any alcohol service is allowed. Alcohol is permitted to be served in Hamman Hall only if Presenter has secured written permission from the Facilities Administrator and subject to the following restrictions:
A. If alcohol is to be sold/distributed, the vendor or Presenter must comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including, but not limited to, those pertaining to age and licensing. An alcohol license is required for any sale of alcohol or where any money will change hands (such as an admission charge) and alcohol will be available. The University strongly prefers that any alcohol service be handled by a caterer or other service licensed to do so; this will require Presenter to obtain a permission letter allowing the caterer or vendor to operate on the campus premises, which letter must be obtained from Rice's Office of the General Counsel at least two weeks before the start of the event.
B. Hamman Hall staff may not be used to sell, distribute, or accept money for alcoholic beverages.
C. Rice University accepts no liability relating to the distribution or consumption of alcoholic beverages in connection with Presenter's use of Hamman Hall.
D. Rice University reserves the right to terminate the sale/distribution of alcoholic beverages upon the discretion of the Facilities Administrator or his/her designee.
E. If Presenter chooses to make arrangements with one of the on-campus alcohol license holders, V&W Permits, Inc. or C&H Permits, those arrangements must be accomplished independently by contacting those entities. The Facilities Administrator may provide Presenter with contact information. Using those entities will involve additional costs that are to be paid directly by the Presenter. Presenter should provide as much advance notice to these entities as possible, as paperwork and regulatory compliance can take some time.
F. This addendum is considered a part of Presenter’s contract with Rice, which includes Presenter’s indemnification obligations to Rice, and all provisions in the contract remain in effect.
