Presidential Candidate- Noemi de la Cruz
Hi. My Name is Noemi De Cruz and I am a junior at Hanszen College. This year I hope to be elected to the position of President of HACER.
Over the years, I have been very dedicated to HACER. As a freshman, I attended almost every meeting and helped choreograph a salsa dance for Posada. This first experience with HACER sparked an interest to become more involved with the process. My sophomore year, I ran for Historian and lost, but I also gained a different view of HACER. I learned that no matter who you are or how active you are in the organization you can have an impact on what our organization becomes and would like for everyone to know that they too can make a difference. Finally, my junior year I was elected to the office of External Vice President. As External vice president I helped to organize performances for Corazon Latino, scheduled HACER outings and was one of the committee members for our La Posada. We got lost going to restaurants, saw an amazing mariachi group, went on movie outings, and spent a lot of time together trying to make Posada 2004 the best it could be.
Through the years I have learned that it takes passion and dedication to make this organization work. It has been my dream to become president of HACER for some while now and would love this great honor and the chance to make HACER an organization of the people and for the people. I hope that as President we are able to focus our energies on Posada, and add to our calendar, through smaller events for Hispanic Heritage Month and throughout the year. I also hope to build a stronger relationship with the other clubs on campus and inspire others to be active with us as we will be with them. I hope to have more fun outings, socials, and reinstated study groups. There are so many things we can do if we work together. I hope that we can together make HACER an organization that everyone feels welcome in joining.

Community Service Candidate- Lucia Lapaz
Hi, my name is Lucia Lapaz and I’m a freshman at Sid Rich. I’d like to be the Community Service Coordinator for HACER. Volunteering has always been something I have enjoyed and been very involved with. I currently tutor kids at Star of Hope (a homeless shelter) and have been a part of the past two Outreach Days. I think it would be great for HACER to get involved with the community. I’d like to organize more group service projects and drives for charitable organizations. I’ve been involved with HACER this past year by attending meetings and helping out with the Culture Fair and supplying cultural things for the fair and other expositions. As Community Service coordinator, I’ll get more HACER members involved in our community representing HACER.
