Rice Habitat for Humanity Centennial House Project

As part of Rice’s Ongoing Centennial Celebration throughout the 2011-2012 school year, Rice Habitat for Humanity in conjunction with Houston Habitat and other student and alumni organizations will work to build a commemorative Centennial House in honor of Rice University’s 100th anniversary. We are gathering the entire Rice community together in an effort to fundraise $65,000 by February 2012 and build a new Habitat for Humanity home for a deserving local family.

The Rice Centennial House will be designed by students from the Rice School of Architecture in consultation with Houston Habitat for Humanity, and built by Rice volunteers over six consecutive Saturdays in March and April 2012. Through team coordination and networking, this project will allow Rice students to expand their leadership skills and actively reinforce Rice’s Culture of Care. Above all, the Rice Centennial House Project will allow Rice faculty, staff, alumni, students and community members to pay tribute to Rice’s enduring legacy of service and help renew Rice’s commitment to volunteerism as it enters its second century, while giving back to the community in a way that will forever change the lives of one very special family.
