Any group or organization (hereafter referred to as the chapter) that seeks to use the FOYM name, banner, or logo shall have a constitution. The constitution and all subsequent amendments shall be approved by the main chapter of FOYM (currently, Rice University).
The chapter shall be a registered non-profit organization within a university.
The name of the chapter shall be ‘FOYM-xxx’, where xxx represents the name of the place where the chapter is located.
The purpose of the chapter shall be to identify and implement strategies to make children from financially handicapped regions of the world have access to ‘fun’ education. The chapter shall adopt and implement the stated mission of FOYM.
Membership to the chapter shall be open to everyone, without discrimination, subject to the guidelines of the hosting university.
The chapter shall try to avoid a hierarchy among its members. Thus there shall not be any President or Secretary in the chapter. There shall be a Treasurer who shall be officially responsible for coordinating the financial aspects of the chapter. “Officers” may be nominated to specific positions, if required by the university.
The methodology for decision making and for making amendments to the constitution of the chapter shall be clearly specified in the constitution of the chapter. This shall include specifying a quorum for making amendments to the constitution.
An annual status report containing the activities and financial status of the chapter shall be prepared by all chapters, including the main chapter, and made available to all other chapters. The recommended deadline for this report is May 1 of each year.
The chapter may lose its status as a FOYM chapter at the discretion of the main FOYM chapter. However, the reason for such an action shall be clearly stated and justified.
