Research Interests
I am evaluating the action of natural selection on microsatellites included in coding regions of the genome of Dictyostelium discoideum. Microsatellites are repeated sequences of a few base pairs. They are known for their variability and instability, in non-coding regions. I’m comparing the variability in length of microsatellites included in coding regions and microsatellites outside coding regions, to understand how natural selection acts on those microsatellites that are expressed.
About me
I’m from Italy, and exactly from Sicily. I came to the Strassmann and Queller lab and to the USA right after geting my biology degree in Florence. I have many passions and some of them are really “strange”, like singing backward. I love to sing and to paint, to write and to act.
