  • We are sad to report that Alan Grob died suddenly on Friday, 21 September. Rice News has composed an article celebrating his life and works.  Also, Alan's obituary in the Houston Chronicle is available through the following link: Alan Gob's Obituary.  An on-campus memorial service will be held in the Rice Chapel on Thursday, October 25; there will be no funeral services.  Alan has been such an important part of Rice life for so many generations of students and faculty that the family knows many will want to pay their respects.  Shirley, Jay, and Julie thank all Alan's friends for their love and support and know that we are thinking of them. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Alan and Shirley Grob Endowment for Shakespeare in Performance. Please contact the Rice University Office of Development by phone at 713-348-4600 or by e-mail at giving@rice.edu for more information.
