Ricky Nagaoka has more than thirty years of experience in the E&C industry. He was one of the founding members of Toyo Engineering Corporation, Japan. At Toyo he worked as manager of design department, procurement manager, project manager, general manager of a project division, managing director of Toyo-Thai Corporation, and associate and senior director of Toyo. For more than twenty years, he worked in project management and overseas corporate management for projects in Iran, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand and Thailand.

Since Ricky's retirement from Toyo in 1998, he has been a visiting scholar at the department of civil engineering of Rice University. He received a B. S. degree in mechanical engineering from Keio University in 1958, an M. S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Wisconsin in 1964 and Ph.D. in construction management from the University of Tokyo in 2001.
