"Chris Bell began his career in public service after being elected to the Houston City Council in 1997. He quickly earned a reputation as a hardnosed watchdog against fiscal mismanagement and corruption. Under Chris's leadership, the Houston Ethics Committee limited soft money in municipal elections, required lobbyists to register, and drafted a "revolving door" policy that prevented city employees from cashing in on their insider connections. These efforts to make city government more transparent and more accountable drew widespread praise from colleagues and community leaders from all different political backgrounds. After five years on the Houston City Council, Chris Bell was elected to Congress in November 2002 and quickly earned a reputation as an incredibly effective freshman. He was called a "rising star" in Roll Call, the leading Capitol Hill newspaper. He served as a Senior Whip on the Democratic leadership team, secured millions of dollars for local projects, and served on four standing committees. Chris became a prime target of the infamous 2003 Republican redistricting effort in the Texas Legislature, and he was defeated in his bid for reelection after his district was redrawn.
Not content to stand idly by and stomach the violation of laws and abuse of power that accompanied the redistricting effort, Chris filed a formal ethics complaint against House Majority Leader Tom DeLay in June, 2004, breaking a seven-year "ethics truce" in Congress. Four months later, the House Ethics Committee responded by unanimously admonishing DeLay on two of Chris's charges and leaving a third on the table pending a criminal investigation in Texas."

"Barbara Ann Radnofsky is a well-known Houston attorney with 25 years of experience at Vinson & Elkins, LLP (V&E), a pre-eminent firm founded in 1917 during the Texas oil boom and World War I. The firm flourished as the United States emerged as a superpower and Houston as the energy capital of the world. V&E provided the resources of an excellent learning environment for Barbara Ann to develop quickly as a young trial lawyer. A recognized expert and teacher in mediation, dispute resolution and health care law, by 1989 Barbara Ann was named as "Outstanding Young Lawyer" by both the Houston and Texas Young Lawyers Associations for 1988-89 and has been named one of "The Best Lawyers in America.""

"James B. Henley has dedicated his life to teaching since 1987. He has taught History and Debate at Sidney Lanier Middle School where he has won the praise and devotion of a generation of Houston students.
The Lanier debate teams have won three consecutive National Middle School Debate Championships. In fact, Mr. Henley’s teams are undefeated in debate competition since 2002. For the past eighteen years, Mr. Henley has directed an annual tour of Washington D.C. leading several thousand parent and students from his school community to meet national leaders from both parties."

"Lampson is running for the 22nd Congressional District with one priority in mind--to serve the people who live, work, and raise their families here. Nick knows congressional service is not about national politics, media pundits and power plays. He will always put his constituents first. In 2002, the Houston Chronicle conducted a survey that showed Nick Lampson had taken on more constituent cases than any other area Congressman. Nick's outstanding record of successfully handling problems for his constituents was well-known in his district and was a major focus of his time in Congress.
Nick consistently voted for deficit reducing alternatives to our federal budget. And, in 2004, when Tom DeLay was twisting arms for an effort to raise our national debt limit to more than $8 trillion, Nick Lampson stood up to DeLay and his gang of wasteful spenders. Nick voted against increasing our debt because borrowing from our children and grandchildren is not sound budget policy. He will continue his fight to turn the tide on the wasteful spending that's been taking place under Tom DeLay. "
