Star Mission Star

Today, we begin a mission to achieve a government that ensures every citizen the right to a first rate education, a clean environment, quality affordable healthcare and the freedom to follow his or her dreams regardless of gender, race, religion, socio-economic status, disability, or sexual orientation. The deeply held values of equality, opportunity, responsibility and community in which the strength of America rests must guide us into the future.

Today, we dream of a better Houston, a better Texas, a better America and a better world. We are not merely dreamers but people of action who fight for the causes that we believe in and fight for the people we care about. Politics is about people and we never forget that.

Today, we aim to increase campus awareness of political and policy issues through discussion and debate as well as by inviting candidates and activitsts to campus. We are active in campaigns for Democratic candidates in Texas. As students we play an important role, as former Speaker of the House of Representatives Tip O'Neill said, "All politics is local," and our activities are as grassroots as you can get. We are a social organization where we make friends and have a lot of fun!

This is our mission and we accept it. The Rice University Young Democrats pledge to work tirelessly to achieve our goals. All are welcome to join us! We know that a few dedicated individuals working toward a common goal can change the world. It is a new day for Texas!
