The ad hoc Curriculum Review Committee reported on a draft proposal for university-wide requirements at the February 3, 1998 faculty meeting. We are embarking on a series of meetings to engage the entire campus community in discussions that will help refine it. Each meeting has been designed to include faculty with a variety of interests and approaches. They are on Wednesday afternoons either at 1:30-3pm or 4-5:30pm. All meetings are in Duncan 1070. So far the following meetings have been scheduled:

You one of a group of faculty invited to a meeting on Wednesday, DATE (FEB 18, 25; MAR 11, 18, 25), from TIME (either 1:30-3pm or 4-5:30pm) in 1070 Duncan Hall to participate in discussing a draft proposal for university-wide requirements and an on-going mechanism both for implementation of such requirements and for examining and reflecting on the curriculum.

This draft proposal was presented to the faculty at our February 3rd meeting, and these meetings are designed to engage the entire campus community in discussions to refine this proposal. Your input is crucial in this process, and we wish to hear all perspectives in generating a final proposal for the requirements that we place on all students.

We hope that you can attend at the indicated time. However, if you are unable to attend the specific session to which you have been invited, please contact Priscilla Jane Huston either by email (pjh@rice.edu) or phone (527-4007) and she will work with you to try to accommodate your schedule by including you in another session.
