Ø      Do not place a trashcan next to the copier or printers.

Ø      Remember to recycle paper wrappers, not just paper.

Department Waste Audit

An audit was conducted to determine the amount of recyclables being thrown away in Department Copier Rooms and Offices.  Five departments were audited in the in the initial survey.

Click here to see the results:  Audit Results

Approximately 70% of all trash in Rice copier rooms could be recycled!

A general correlation was found between the distance of the recycle bin from the copier and the amount of recyclables that were not recycled.

Also, many faculty members did not seem to be aware that envelopes and colored paper could be recycled.  Please see above for a complete listing of recyclables.
