New Faculty Position:

We are pleased to advise that Rives Taylor will be joining the Sustainable Technologies Group on October 19th as a Research Scientist/Architect. Rives will be working closely with our high performance, green building team, in particular, on the Hot and Humid project. He will initially be working on a part-time (50%) basis, but that workload could certainly increase as new funding opportunities develop.

Rives was recently named best architect in Houston by the Houston Press. (http://www.houstonpress.com/issues/2004-09-23/bestof/bestcity36.html) He currently teaches sustainability and architecture classes at Rice University and at the University of Houston. At UH, Rives is also the Kirksey Fellow for Sustainable Design at the Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture. Rives is a Texas licensed, practicing architect and recently served as the University Architect for the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. He has recently been on the board of the Rice Design Alliance, sits on its programs, editorial and finance committees, and is active in the local chapter of the American Institute of Architects. He is also a member of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and a board member, as well as director of communications, in the local chapter and is LEEDTM 2.0 accredited. Rives is very engaged with the city, helping to build a sustainable future, through teaching, lecturing and writing (in Houston's Cite magazine and others).
