Cognitive Sciences Program Courses
Students majoring in cognitive sciences must complete 5 core courses & 7 additional courses. Among the 7 additional courses, at least 3 and no more than 4 must be in a single area of concentration--linguistics, philosophy, psychology, or neuroscience. Core Courses
The core courses are divided into five groups. Majors must take one course from each group.
Computer Science
Note: Though all of these courses may be used to satisfy the computer science core requirement, no more than one may be taken for credit within the major. |
COMP 200 |
Elements of Computer Science. This is a general
introduction for non-Computer Science majors. Many Cognitive
Sciences students choose this course to fill the computational
core course |
COMP 140 |
Computational Thinking. This course is an introduction to
the discipine of Computer Science specifically aimed at potential Computer
Science majors |
COMP 210 |
Principles of Computation and Programming. This course is
the older COMP intro course, now discontinued by
Computer Science. It is now being phased out of our program. Students who
took this can still apply it to the Cognitive Sciences major |
