Here is the second homework assignment: homework_2.doc Note: there were
some arrows and positions points drawn in by hand in the actual
assignment handed out in class which are needed to get a couple of the
questions answered correctly.

Here is the third homework assignment: homework_3.doc Note: Two things.
First, I was confused in class on Tuesday the 17th. the homework assignment
says it is due on Tuesday the 23rd, but the 23rd is Monday. The correct
due date in Tuesday the 24th. Second, problem number 10 asks you to answer
question 40 from Chapter 15 in your textbook. There is some missing type in
the textbook for this question. To clarify, capital M sub V (M_V) is the
absolute magnitude and little m sub V (m_V) is the apparent magnitude.
There are also missing values from the actual table. The values should
be Aldebaran: M_V = -0.51, m_V = 0.99; Alpha Cen A: M_V = 4.35, m_V = 0.00;
Antares: M_V = -5.27, m_V = 1.07; Canopus: M_V = -5.53, m_V = -0.62;
Fomalhaut: M_V = 1.80, m_V = 1.23; Regulus: M_V = -0.48, m_V = 1.40;
Sirius: M_V = 1.45, m_V = -1.44; Spica: M_V = -3.48, m_V = 1.05.
