Tryout Information

Both men and women are welcome to tryout, but you must be able to cheer for the entire 2008-2009 season. Prior to tryouts, the squad will hold two instructive clinics to teach material and stunting technique. Those who wish to tryout will be required to perform the following in front of a panel of three judges:

• A run-in demonstrating spirit and crowd interaction
• Tumbling
• 3 jumps, one of which must be a toe touch
• Sideline chant (taught at instructive clinics)
• Short sideline dance (taught at instructive clinics and performed in groups of 2-3)
• Stunting (Basing a prep and extension are required. Contestants may fly or base an "optional" stunt if they so choose. If a contestant wants to fly during the year, he or she must fly at tryouts.)

Tryouts for the 2008-2009 squad will be Sunday, April 20, at 12:00 PM in Fox Gym. There will be an informational meeting on Monday, April 14, at 7:00 PM in the Kelley Lounge of the Student Center, and two instructional clinics Friday, April 18, 7:00-9:00 PM and Saturday, April 19, 2:00-4:00 PM in Fox Gym. You will learn the tryout material at the instructional clinics, so it is very important to attend if you are interested in trying out.
