Sam
H. Davis, Jr.
Professor
Emeritus in Chemical Engineering
Research Interests:
- Dynamics of Chemical Processes
Education:
- B.A. (1952) Rice University
- B.S. (1953) Rice University
- Sc.D. (1957) Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Professor Davis has done both experimental and theoretical studies
of several problems associated with atmospheric control. While these
studies were supported by NASA and the US Navy, the problems have
applications in general chemical processing. Experimental studies
centered on the collection of multicamponent absorption and adsorption
data.
Davis is also interested in computer education for engineering
students and is completing texts to be used in chemical engineering,
computer applications, and applied mathematics. For many years,
he was the director of OWLNET, the Rice engineering computer network.
