Dr. James Pomerantz
Visual Perception
This project involves the exploration of visual perception in humans - how people perceive objects, shapes, color, motion, and depth through their visual pathways from eyes to brain. The components of the project range from creation of visual stimuli (allowing students to learn computer graphics skills) and the design of experiments to collection of data, and statistical analysis of results. Future projects may include working with patients and neuroimaging (brain scanning) devices, in collaboration with researchers in the Texas Medical Center. No specific experience is necessary, and the project can be adapted to some extent to the student's interests.
