Dr. Tony Mikos

Skeletal deficiencies resulting from trauma, tumors, or abnormal development frequently require surgical intervention to restore normal tissue function. Even though current surgical treatments are often successful, all have associated problems and limitations. Recently, new strategies to engineer bone have focused on the use of natural or synthetic materials as scaffolds for guided bone growth. This project will involve investigations of synthesis, fabrication, and evaluation of new degradable materials for bone regeneration.
