Work History:

September 2007-Present: Rice University, The Boniuk Center for the Study and Advancement of Religious Tolerance. Special Projects Manager. Part-time position. Primary duties include development of marketing strategies, conceptual development of websites, advertising, promotional materials, and public relations for the center. Works with Executive Director and Director to develop program guidelines. Works with Center Coordinator to develop efficient management systems. Assists in maintaining relationships with corporate, foundation, governmental and individual donors for the center. Develops and maintains mailing lists and email listserve functions for the center.

November 2004-August 2007: Rice University, The Boniuk Center for the Study and Advancement of Religious Tolerance.  Administrative Coordinator.  Primary duties include budget maintenance, accounts receivable, accounts payable, travel and events planning, preparation of correspondence on behalf of the center.  Provides administrative support for director and assistant director for outreach.  Establishes and maintains both electronic and physical filing systems.  Assists in conceptual development of the web presence for the center and special web projects with outside organizations.  Assists in maintaining relations with corporate, foundation and individual donors to the center.  Develops and maintains mailing and e-mail lists.

June 2001-November 2004:  Rice University, Office of Technology Transfer.  Office Manager.  Primary duties include budget maintenance and supervision, accounts receivable, accounts payable, travel and meeting arrangements, preparation of correspondence, development and use of database information for reports and special projects.  Liaison with outside legal counsel for patent development and prosecution.  Establishment and maintenance of filing system and database for management of invention disclosures, patent applications, and licensing.  Invention reporting to government agencies and other sponsors of research that result in patentable technologies.  Provides administrative support for director and licensing associates, supervises part-time workers and interns from the Rice MBA program.  Provides research and information support.

July 1998-June 2001: Rice University, Office of the Vice Provost for Research and Graduate Studies.  Executive Assistant to the Vice Provost, the Director of the Office of Sponsored Research, and the Director of the Office of Technology Transfer.  Primary duties included budget maintenance for Sponsored Research and the Office of Technology Transfer.  Scheduling and calendaring, travel arrangements, meeting arrangements, preparation of correspondence, development and use of database information for reports and special projects.  Liaison with outside legal counsel for Office of Technology Transfer, maintenance and integrity of invention disclosure, patent application, and licensing database.  Accounts receivable and accounts payable management.

November 1996 to August 1998: Rice University, Office of Sponsored Research. Staff Assistant. Primary duties include budget maintenance, accounts payable and purchasing functions. Processing procedures for grants and corporate research support including logging receipt and disposition of materials, maintenance of a comprehensive file system, and the generation of reports and other documents through various computer programs.

August 1993 to May 1996: Rice University, The James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy. Administrative Coordinator. Primary duties are budget preparation, management and forecasting, tracking accounts receivable and accounts payable, office management. Secondary duties include liaison with the Office of News and Media Relations for the promotion of the Baker Institute and liaison with the Office of Development regarding Baker Institute fund raising activities. Vision, conception, and development of World Wide Web home page for the Baker Institute on Rice Info at http://riceinfo.rice.edu/projects/baker/index.html, though not the day to day maintenance of the page. Also responsible for coordination of security for Baker Institute events with Rice University Policy, Houston Police Department, and other security agencies of the U.S. Government in Houston. Involved in some fund-raising activities on behalf of the Baker Institute through the cultivation of donors and donor prospects.

July 1992 to June 1993: St. Joseph School, Yoakum, Texas. Principal. Responsible for the management of a parish school grades Pre-k through 8. Supervised teaching and administrative staff. Responsible for budget management and forecasting. Duties included fund raising activities, development of donors and donor prospects and cultivation of donors, supervision and evaluation of teaching staff, counseling and supervision of student body.

July 1990 to July 1992: Rice Memorial Center, Rice University. Part-time Student Assistant. Responsibilities included assisting the Director of the Rice Memorial Center in the preparation of budget, management of budget, data entry, management of facilities, and assistance with events scheduled within the facilities of the Rice Memorial Center and the Ley Student Center. Also held part-time position as bookkeeper for Office of Career Services. Tracked and authorized payments for expenditures, managed petty cash fund.

August 1985 to July 1992: Graduate Student in Religious Studies, Rice University Department of Religious Studies. Pursued graduate studies in Medical Ethics/Religious Studies at Rice University. Held part-time and other positions during this period to support educational aims.

August 1985 to July 1990: St. John Neumann Catholic Church, Houston, Texas. Director of Religious Education. Responsible for the design, implementation, and operation of a program of religious studies for a parish setting. Supervised volunteer staff of catechists and administrative workers. Collected payments for classes and prepared deposits to accounts.
