Keeping Active Instead of Resting Post-Treatment Recommended

Cancer patients who exercise post-treatment can lower recurrence rate and should be given the support to lead an active life.

Over 80% of patients do not exercise after their cancer treatments, but teams of experts are recommended to start introducing the concept of exercise early on in the process.

"The advice that I would have previously given to one of my patients would have been to 'take it easy'...This has now changed significantly because of the recognition that if physical exercise were a drug, it would be hitting the headlines."

Technology Offers New Hope as a Brain Tumor Treatment

The NovoTTF-100A System uses electrodes to treat glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), the most aggressive form of brain tumor.

In 2010, there were 13,140 deaths from brain and other nervous system cancers in the United States. In April 2011, the FDA approved the NovoTTF-100A System that will offer new hope for adults with recurring or progressing GBM even after receiving chemotherapy and radiation therapies.

Warning labels will be required on the top half of all cigarette packs and advertisements starting September 2012.
