1. Jan West came and spoke about the Office of Minority Community Affairs (now
Multicultural Relations)and upcoming activities. The Office will be involved
with the ARUBA Homecoming festivities, Parent tours, and NAMI (National
Alliance of Mental Illness). For NAMI, there will be a prayer breakfast on Oct.
2 from 7:30-9:30 pm. Also, there are scholarships available for students from
District D in Houston. Email Jan West at jan.f.west@rice.edu for more info on
the scholarships.

2. Apply to be a member of SAC! SAC (Student Admissions Council) works closely
with the Rice Admissions Office to recruit new, diverse students. You can be an
overnight host, an ambassador, or help out on various committees to recruit
students. Stop by the Admissions Office to learn more!

3. BSA Student/Alumni/Faculty Mixer will be this Friday, September 14 from 4-6
pm in the Farnsworth Pavillion! Dress nice, since you will be meeting our
advisors.

4. Football game this Saturday at 2pm! Meet beforehand to walk in as a group. We
have signs!

5. ARUBA Phone-a-thon: Thursday, Sept. 13 from 6:30-9 pm at the Greenbriar
Building. Free dinner!

6. Campus Tours! We need volunteers for tours on Saturday, September 15 from
1-2:15 pm.

7. BSA Office Hours-All officers have them. If you need anything, stop by during
one of our office hours.

8. Social Consciousness Committee-email Marisol if you want to be a part of this
committee at mda1@rice.edu.

9. SBSLC is the annual conference sponsored by the Provost's Office for Black
student leaders. Contact Chuck if you have any presentation ideas.

10. College Representatives-Yay! Everyone who applied is now a College Rep!
There will be a North Colleges Committee and a South College Committee.
Congrats!

11. Dues (Stephanie)-Dues are 10 dollars! Pay soon! Dues help BSA provide the
General Body with food at meetings, and other awesome things.

12. Teach for America-email Pam Mathai (mathai@rice.edu). This is a great
opportunity to give back and teach underprivileged youth. There will be a Teach
for America meeting in the RMC Chapel meeting room at 7 pm tomorrow (9/12).

13. The Archbishop of Johannesburg, South Africa is coming to Rice on Sept. 25
to talk about AIDS and other African issues. Ask Siju for more information.
There will be flyers posted and Facebook reminders.

14. Miss Nigeria Pageant will be on Oct 13. Please donate toys for the children
at Texas Childrens, or donate $5. Contact Simone for more info.

15. MommyMixer is a place where moms can find babysitters. If you like children
and need a job, contact Anastasia for more info.

16. Hope for Youth is a Christian based organization catered to 12-18 year olds.
Mentors help with college mentorship, discipleship, and fun activities. Email
Kristen (krisro4@rice.edu) for more information.

17. Job Opportunities:

    Rice Tutoring- a new organization called General Academic, consists of Rice
students interested in tutoring high school aged students. If interested,
contact aerin.williams@generalacademic.com. There will be info sessions at
Hanszen Upper Commons Friday during lunch, and at Martel on Monday during
lunch.

   Apply to work at the Rec Center! They are looking for part-time assistants.
