Baker Shakespeare Theatre is Rice University's annual spring festival of student-acted and -produced Shakespearean drama. At nearly thirty years of age, Baker Shakespeare (affectionately known as "Baker-Shake", and named for Rice's James A. Baker Residential College), predates the better-known Houston Shakespeare Festival.

Visitors, feel free to pass through to the Baker Shakespeare Historical Archives, and pardon our dust. Glories and stories from past years await you there. This stuff here is the unrealized future.

Words, Words, Words:

An HTML version (derived from the Complete Moby(tm) Shakespeare) of Julius Caesar is available through MIT's online Complete Works. A sacrilegous paraphrase is also available online, perhaps to the aid of our more lazy audience members.

As for print versions, your director favors her Arden Shakespeare edition with its whopping big apparatus criticus. But then, she used to be an English major....

A production mailing list is available. Note that this is not a general-interest Shakespeare discussion list: it is devoted to announcements and news about Baker College Shakespeare Theatre. To subscribe, contact your Mail Maven, Web Wrangler, and all-around Bard-Byter Chepe Lockett and justify your existence.
