Another evening of much silliness, which given that we were working on Autolycus, Shepherd, and Clown for the first part of the evening, was hardly surprising. Much more physical comedy. The bit at the end of IV,4, where Autolycus persuades Shepherd and Clown that he is a courtier, is especially funny, but the humor is largely physical and needs to be as crisp as possible. Still, we laid out some good stuff. We decided that Autolycus needs to be very "swishy" for this scene, and boy does he swish.
Quotes for the evening: "When you hear 'pawn,' think 'catamite.' Go home and look it up." And, "Don't jump as you screw!"
Then we worked on the latter half of V,2, where the Clown gets to beat up on Autolycus. We're having some fun with that. By the end of the scene, Paul will have been much tossed about by the clown.
After that we backtracked to the scene where Camillo persuades Florizel and Perdita to run off to Sicilia. Despite the fact that someone (you know who you are) almost broke a lamp by tossing a shoe during the bit where Florizel and Autolycus switch clothes, it turned out very well, with a very in-charge, slightly bemused Camillo and a pair of sweet but no saccharine young lovers.
