Today's production diary entry has been provided by the Lord High Director, since I went home early feeling unpleasantly ill.

Another quietish but productive rehearsal. Funniest moment probably was when a cast member asked, puzzledly, about Old Shepherd's presence at the Pregnancy Consulting workshop, and we took off on tales of a Winter's Tale / X-File crossover with Mulder and Scully investigating strange goings-on in Bohemia. (Actually, Steven Budd has some ideas about having O.S. resemble Hermione in carriage and behavior). Likewise some good development work for Antigonus, Autolycus, and the Clown: we've got all sorts of things going on underneath the lines now, and blocking should be a breeze. Everyone agrees that these are quiet, introspective rehearsals, but absolutely necessary for what's to come and what we're trying to do with the play (rather than "to the play"!).
