Some minor chaos occasioned by mix-ups over rehearsal space. This is in no small part the fault of the io.com mailserver; Chepe sent out the room assignments early this morning, and some of us didn't even have the message at a quarter to 6. Disgraceful.

But the rehearsal itself went pretty well. Got through II,1 (sans the Mamillii, one of whom apparently has a conflict in the form of choir practice) and V, 2 very nicely. Same routine -- straight read-through, paraphrase, re-read.

We have also begun working on some stage business; spent a good bit of time discussing how Hermione's ladies might deal with their lady being dragged off to prison. Decided that Hermione's calm is exceptional; however, we don't want the ladies sniveling. Perhaps they draw their strength from her when she asserts her need for them.

Leontes' court is beginning to look incredibly Machiavellian. The lord in II,1 clearly has his own best interests at heart and a reasonable sense of whose side it is most expedient to be on. V,2 is slowly developing into a hilarious game of one-upmanship between the three gentlemen, each of whom is vying to be the most informed and closest to the seat of power. (Autolycus, needless to say, scarcely even counts to them.) This is necessary; otherwise that damn scene turns into the most boring piece of groan-worthy exposition.

Quote of the evening: one of the actors turned to Peter during II,1 and exclaimed, "Your character is an asshole!"
