In 1970, Baker College freshmen Charles Becker and Ed Dickinson approached
Rice Professor of English Dr. Wes Morris with the idea of mounting a
production of Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew. "I was
reluctant," remembers Dr. Morris, "but they started organizing
and before we knew it, we had a play." Today, a quarter century
later, Baker College is proud to celebrate the silver anniversary of
student-produced Shakespearean drama at Rice University. To all those
who came before, to all those who will follow, and to all of you, whose
generous support makes this annual tradition possible, we dedicate
tonight's performance.
