About me:
I am a vice
president at Charles River Associates
(CRA), where I provide business consulting and litigation consulting related to
accounting, disclosures, finance, valuation, investment analysis, transaction analysis (including derivatives
and structured finance transactions), forensic investigation, and corporate
governance. I have given depositions or have testified over fifteen times as an
accounting or finance expert.
I am also a visiting
professor of accounting at Harvard Law School since 2008, where I currently
hold the Robert B. and Candice J. Haas Visiting Professor of Corporate Finance
Law chair, and a Research Affiliate at MIT Sloan School of Management where I was a visiting professor during 2009-11. I am also the J. Howard Creekmore Professor
of Accounting Emeritus at Rice University where I am the Academic Director for the CFA Exam Preparation program co-sponsored by the CFA Society of Houston. I have published widely in major accounting and finance journals.
I am a co-author of four books covering
financial accounting and finance topics. I have been invited three times by
the United States Congress to testify on accounting and disclosure

accounting, finance, corporate governance, and valuation issues. I am

I have a Ph.D. in accounting from Carnegie
Mellon University,
and am a CPA. I hold the Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) and Certified in
Financial Forensics (CFF) credentials.
