Current research projects

• Duration perception of auditory and visual stimuli: effect of range and pattern on estimated duration.
• Perception of duration and pitch: interaction of duration with pitch and rate of change in pitch
• Sonification experiments: I apply perceptual research on sound dimensions to sonification of absolute values
• Sonification Design Tool: we developed a searchable data base for the purposes of giving advice to auditory display designers
• Comparison of hierarchical menus and panel menus (paper submitted to CHI 2007).
• Icon prediction algorithm: we are working on an algorithm and application for user interfaces that predicts the icon on an icon toolbar the mouse is heading toward; we are also conducting experiments to find out the time savings with this application
• Text layout of websites: we are testing the effects of page width and line spacing of text on subjective measures of the professional look and the esthetical appearance of web sites.
