This simulation is about the communication challenges that arose as two cities, Eugene and Springfield, Oregon (USA), had to adjust to the discovery of wetlands in the west Eugene industrial development area (see vicinity map Where is West Eugene, Oregon? ). The case contains information from interviews, telephone conversations, published and unpublished materials (newspaper articles, booklets, packets, technical reports, video, audio, and correspondence). It includes a variety of written and oral communication assignments. These assignments offer actual examples of the complex audiences that are involved in business and management communication. Some of the assignments are for teams or groups; others are for individuals. Check your course syllabus or your course home page at your school to see which ones you have been assigned, and read the Background Statement.
Choose the assignment you have been given from the Team Assignments List or the Individual Assignments List. You also can check a list of the pages you might visit as a member of each team by looking at the Team Resources Guide or review the cast of characters in the case.
