As I look down upon today

I see myself floating away

I’ve left behind the shackles

Compelling me to stay

My life here has been tremendous

But there’s so much more to see

So far for me to travel

And something more to be

 

We have liftoff for this escape

And I’m no longer bound

Flashing through my former life

At twice the speed of sound

Now that I’m in orbit

It’s now just come what may

 Stop dwelling in the past

And start living for today.

 

A thousand miles of floating

In the emptiness of space

Not hiding from anything

Just finding my place

A million opportunities

Flash before my eyes

I study each one carefully

Unsure where my future lies

 

So I’ve completed my escape

And I’m no longer bound

Flashing through my former life

At twice the speed of sound

Now that I am free

Floating though the endless night

I look back to the life I left

As the only source of light

 

I left in search of hope

And the perspective found

Can I now please return?

At twice the speed of sound

 

Reined back in from this escape

And pulled back to the ground

A new found sense of purpose

An unknown courage found

The past has made me stronger

I walk toward the light

Regardless of the struggles

The future’s looking bright

Flashing through my former life

Disappearing out of sight
