Gaudi's Portal

Barcelona, Spain

Portland State, ISIS, Spring 2001

Antonio Gaudi is one of the most famous architects in Barcelona. He combined both old and new styles of architecture in such way that he was able to create a look of his own. This photograph was taken from the rooftop of one of his most famous buildings, Casa Mila, also known as "La Pedrera - The Stone Quary." From the street it has the look of a cave dwelling, and it has the most amazing statues on the roof. This arch looks straight at the top of the Sagrada Familia, a church that Gaudi started in 1888 and is still under construction today. Sagrada Familia is Gaudi's most famous work, and is an amazing work of architecture. This view reminds me of a portal going from one great building to another.
